About Claire

Living in a small Essex market town, I've spent my career illustrating children's books and stationery, all from the comfort of home alongside my two sons and a rather old cat called Buzz.

My world took an unexpected turn in 2019. While at a 'Knitting and Stitching' show at Alexandra Palace in London, I stumbled upon a needle felting stall and, on a whim, bought a cat kit.

It was complete love at first poke! This new found obsession really blossomed during the long days of the covid lockdowns.

Soon, friends were asking me to teach them, the joy I got from sharing this beautiful craft became clear and so Sherbet Felt was born.

In 2023, I took the leap and rented a small cabin in a garden centre as my base, dedicating myself to teaching needle felting full time. The year ended on a wonderful high note, with a commission from Burberry to create all the models for a TikTok advert for them!

In July 2025, finding I really needed a bit more space, I moved Sherbet Felt to The Fold in Billericay which is where I now host my felting workshops.

In addition to the in person workshops I am also running an online felting membership club so my world has become completely taken over by stabbing and poking wool!

Away from my desk you can find me pottering in my garden, off on long countryside rambles with friends or cheering on Arsenal at the Emirates :)
